Overview Of Musical Intelligence English Language Essay
Overview Of Musical Intelligence English Language Essay The third grade student Johnny who seems to involve skill appreciation and composition of the melodic pattern in his performance clearly displays more characteristics on the musical intelligence than linguistic and interpersonal intelligence. Why musical intelligence Since he also vocalizes a variety of sounds during playtime and he can reproduce birdcalls and songs. He has the capability of recognizing and composing musical rhythms pitches and tones. Johnny also has some characteristics of the linguistic intelligence since he has the sensitivity to rhythms and sounds as well as the various language functions. He also has some aspects of the interpersonal intelligence since he is able to sense the feelings of his classmates and respond empathetically to their emotional state thus being able to relate with them very well. On the other hand, his openness and honesty when he expresses himself is also a characteristic of the interpersonal intelligence and his tolerance of his classmates actions and opinions characterizes him as a person who understands the relations between people. The musical intelligence capabilities displayed by Johnny indicate that he appreciates the various forms of music expressed in different moods pitches and rhythms. Teaching and assessment strategies For Johnny who mainly possesses musical intelligence abilities and skills, several teaching and assessment strategies can be employed during his learning processes. When using the multimodal curricular design model the teacher should put a lot of emphasis on Johnnies musical intelligence and see it like a point of entry into the learning content. On the other hand, the single grade and the multi grade classrooms would be the best instructional strategies to adapt. Secondly, on the developmentally based curricular design model the teachers emphasis should be on using Johnnies musical intelligence ability as a tool of instruction in the direction of development and profound knowledge. The instructional strategies for Johnnie based on this model would be based on his choice as a student such that he makes choices in his learning activity. The second strategy that could be used includes, cooperative learning where he learns together with the other students jointly as they all participate in the learning processes since this would also make it easy for the group processing. Another strategy that could be used in his learning is on the development of his life skills. The teacher could also give Johnny less information and allow him to do more application during his learning process. For example, he should be given various sounds, which he should identify, by the tone and rhythm. In this case, this is done in helping memorize more on a taught concept that is presented on a more musical oriented angle. In the assessments, Johnnies teacher should use the skills checklists, portifolis, the S-U lettering grades, as well as the hyperactive card piles. Similarly the teacher could also use both non-graded and the graded music lessons following up with the checklists and the progress charts which highlight the areas of Johnnies achievement and the areas which he needs improvement. Linguistic intelligence For the seventh grade student ,Susie, the most clearly displayed multiple intelligence is the linguistic intelligence since her most preferred learning hints are language and words. She also possesses some characteristics of bodily kinesthetic intelligence since she often uses her hand gestures to express herself and come up with great routines and through this, she conveys her messages very effectively as the junior varsity cheerleader. Why linguistic intelligence The linguistic intelligence for Susie makes her very sensitive to any written or spoken language, which she uses as a way of remembering information. Teaching and assessment strategies The teacher should consider using support materials while teaching Susie to provide some tangibility of the items related to the content for her to examine because of her linguistic nature. The teacher should also review the use of some examples related to sports such as throwing a ball to Susie so that she can answer a question. On the other hand, the teacher should verbally present her content and loudly as Susie questions and look for her feedback. The teacher could also interview Susie, as she should also allow her to make a presentation of her assignments or group work. Susie could also be allowed to prepare class and group presentations as she reads the content aloud as well as be allowed to debate over certain issues in her learning environment. Susie should create chart and graphs which will help her in explaining her written information. In assessing Susie, the teacher should grade her verbal and presentation skills as well as use the hyperactive card files, which would help Susie remember the memorized content. She would also be taught on how to present her work, which would most likely bend on made up stories that she is told to present to other students. Since she is more on linguistic intelligence, it would be of importance that she learns new words and tested on the latter to improve in her work. This should be of great importance both to her and to the assessor. Role-playing could also be a very effective assessment strategy as this can be done through dancing, acting narrating as well as crafts and athletics and this could be done through charts and graphs. This would enable the teacher to follow up with the checklists and the progress charts, which highlight the areas of Susie achievement and the areas, which she needs improvement. Logical-mathematical intelligence Tommy, who is a particular and diligent student, questions events and situations by looking for hidden rationales or reasons has the characteristics of a logical-mathematical intelligent student. His development of a shorthand system for effective note taking, where he always use a prewriting strategy for his major papers and projects make him have traits of the logical-mathematical intelligence. On the other hand, Tommy has introspective intelligence traits, which are highly reflected in his ability to be very single-minded focusing all of his energy and attention to tasks. His preference to work independently and be self-directed makes him an introspective intelligent student and his ability to see his assignments in terms of his own life experiences as well as paying close attention to the events that have correlative importance to his schoolwork. Teaching and assessment strategies Since Tommy possesses both logical-mathematical intelligence and retrospective intelligence, which involves numbers abstractions logic and reasoning. It is assumed that he is naturally intelligent. The teacher should involve him more in activities that are numerical and that require more reasoning and scientific thinking. He should be involved in exercises that involve number sense and numeration too as the assessor by now knows that he is rich in analytical and statistical problem solving. It should be noted that Tommys abilities to evaluate and utilize spatial and quantitative information in solving problems boost his personal self-confidence even when dealing with other life issues.

Stephen Dedalus Perception of Aesthetics in James Joyceââ¬â¢s novel A Port
Aesthetics is the philosophy of art. By appreciating the value of aesthetics, one can comprehend the meaning of the abstract notion of beauty. In James Joyceââ¬â¢s novel, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Stephen Dedalusââ¬â¢ perception of aesthetics is a key component in the main characterââ¬â¢s pursuit of individuality and purpose. Through the use of literary techniques such as diction and tone, Joyce conveys the protagonistââ¬â¢s aesthetic development. This artistic growth, paralleled throughout the novelââ¬â¢s external structure with Dedalusââ¬â¢ coming of age, illustrates the life, purpose and aesthetic ambition of an artist: ââ¬Å"To discover the mode of life or of art whereby the spirit can express itself in unfettered freedomâ⬠(Joyce 231). Stephenââ¬â¢s early childhood, depicted in chapter one, exposes the protagonistââ¬â¢s understanding of art through his naà ¯ve tone and childlike diction. In this stage of his development, the protagonistââ¬â¢s perception of aesthetics is defined according to what is nice. Also, the interesting use of the rhythmic and phonetic quality of words, along with the integration of verse, contributes to his infantile definition of the nature of art and beauty. The opening of the chapter demonstrates this wordplay through the childish story of the baby tuckoo and the moocow. Furthermore, Dedalus is shown to have an innate comprehension of art: ââ¬Å"He wanted to cry quietly but not for himself: for the words, so beautiful and sad, like musicâ⬠(Joyce 18). As Stephen becomes aware of his surroundings, his perception of art begins to change. In chapter two, the protagonistââ¬â¢s eager tone leads him to develop a different understanding of the qualities of art. The author makes a literary allusion to Alexander Dumasââ¬â¢ The Count of Monte Cr... ...nd pursuit of purpose. The different visions of aesthetics, particular to each stage of his life, define his character development and the authorââ¬â¢s portrayal of his artistic destiny. Following the ââ¬Å"bildungsromanâ⬠style, Dedalus attains maturity through his conception of the value of art. His treatise on aesthetics leads him to conclude that in order to gain the necessary claritas, or clearness of mind for his artistic endeavors, he must voluntarily severe all bonds of faith, family and country. Only through this exile can the artist gain the unfettered freedom necessary for the production of life out of life and the fulfillment of art with the sole purpose of aesthetic accomplishment. Whether itââ¬â¢s art for artââ¬â¢s sake, or for any other purpose, as long as it complies with the parameters of aesthetic fulfillment and spiritual freedom, art will undoubtedly be beautiful.

Tesco Company Profile
The company has also established a strong customer base by effectively utilizing the information held within their systems by leveraging the concept of Customer Relationship Marketing. Alongside, the company has effectively performed the process of data mining through directly analysing the information from the EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) Systems installed in their shop floors so as to identify the potential customers and enter new target markets and business segments. The implementation of the file maker systems in line with their point of sale systems to produce store specific adverts and promotion banners has apparently leveraged the company an edge over its competitors in the supermarket chain. The online shopping system TESCO WEBSITE In the light of the above argument, an insight into the TESCO website reveals the following results. The company has a highly structured website that has classified its products efficiently based on the departments and then provided a two stage categorisation for identifying the actual product itself. The two stages of categorisation are achieved by the providing a short list of hyperlinks under a selected category so as to enable the customer to view the products. The website also provides an interactive help system that efficiently guides a new user to quickly get accustomed to the online shopping process in order to encourage the customers to shop online. Apart from the easy to navigate system and the help provided online, the company has also established a dedicated call centre service especially to attend to the queries of the online shoppers including support on completing an order as well as serving the customer queries on existing orders and deliveries. Alongside, the feature of reserving a delivery schedule before starting the shopping process itself makes it further easier for the customer to decide on the products to prioritise on the order placed. This provides an additional benefit of gaining customer satisfaction as well as a second to none service in the online shopping system to the customers. The aforementioned statements further justify that the TESCO Plc has apparently gained competitive advantage in the electronic commerce mode of retailing in the supermarket chain segment of the retail sector in the UK. Alongside, the company has not only established the online transaction system for the sale of its retail products but for cross selling of its other services including DVD rental, finance and other services. This complete existence of the company over the Internet has apparently proved successful in gaining competitive advantage in the market. The above analysis has proved that TESCO Plc has leveraged competitive advantage through strategically deploying the electronic commerce system in its website and conducting transactions quickly in order to provide timely delivery of the products and services. The research conducted so far is based on the secondary information resources and hence to derive on a concrete solution, a primary research in the form of questionnaire is carried out. The next chapter provides a critical overview of the research methodology and the scope

Today I Choose Me Professor Ramos Blog
Today I Choose Me Apart of love is wondering where you belong and where you fit in. Sometimes that is looking for love in the places we think are right for us and it could be us looking in the wrong places. What attracts us to someone? Is it in the tone of their voice when we listen to them speak? The feeling of their touch the minute they lay a single hand on you? Is it how their laugh makes you smile? Or is it them introducing you to the most important people in their life? We never truly know what it is that a person may see in us that makes them attracted to us. Because we dont truly know these things it often leads us to insecurities, depression, self-doubt, and sometimes death. In ââ¬Å"Bien Prettyâ⬠by Sandra Cisneros, Lupe points out ââ¬Å"What kills me is your silence. So certain, so solid. Not a note, nor postcard. Not a phone call, no number I could reach you at. No address I could write to. Neither yes nor no. Just the void. The days raw and wide as this drought-blue sky. Just the n othingness. Thatââ¬â¢s what hurtsâ⬠(Cisneros 157). A man that she fell in love with just vanished as if everything they done was meaningless. Lupe was devastated and heartbroken when Flavio left, it took her weeks to pull herself up from this pain. During the time that Flavio was modeling for Lupe they began telling stories about each others lives. ââ¬Å"What I liked best about working with Flavio were the storiesâ⬠(Cisneros 148). How could this poor Mexican man that had very little take so much from her? Lupe began looking at Flavio a different way, she then imagined how ââ¬Å"With skin sweet as burnt-milk candy, smooth as river water. He made you bien pretty even if I didnââ¬â¢t always know it. Yes he didâ⬠(Cisneros 152). Would that have been love for Lupe or was she just feeling that way because of the time they spent together? Lupe begins to ask herself ââ¬Å"Whatââ¬â¢s happened to me? Flavio was just Flavio, a man I wouldnââ¬â¢tââ¬â¢ve looked at twice beforeâ⬠(Cisneros154). Everything around Lupe would remind her of all the little things of Flavio, In the beginning of the story Lupe points out ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m to blame. Flavio Munguia was just an ordinary Flavio until he met meâ⬠¦ On ce you tell a man heââ¬â¢s pretty, thereââ¬â¢s no taking it backâ⬠(Cisneros 137). Lupe chose to believe that she was the reason for Flavio being the way he was, that she turned him into this man that was selfish. After the ongoing relationship that Flavio and Lupe had, the truth was finally spoken. Flavio told Lupe that he had to go back to Mexico to take care of things back home. However, never once did he tell Lupe that he had children from another marriage. By the pain that Lupe was in the only words that could come out ââ¬Å"I think you better go now. I gotta get my clothes out of the dryer before they get wrinkledâ⬠(Cisneros 157). Lupe tried to find peace, but because she was still broken all she could think of was anger and how much she wanted to hurt Flavio for hurting her. All that time you spend getting to know someone, loving their insecurities, and loving their biggest flaws for them to just hurt you and leave. Lupe was blinded by Flavioââ¬â¢s love that she forgot who she was. ââ¬Å" Just the way I use to believe I was pretty. Before Flavio Munguia wore all my prettiness awayâ⬠(Cisneros 137). Everything Lupe felt had turned away and made her feel less, ââ¬Å" When I look in the mirror, Im ugly. How come I never noticed before?â⬠(Cisneros 160). Lupe was in pain. Flavio made her feel like she was the weak one. She was too busy trying to make him feel special she forgot about her own self-worth. To The Girls Who Need To Love Themselves by Madison Sonnier writer from Thought Catalog, explains ââ¬Å"I understand how you must be feeling ââ¬â desperate for closure, envious of those living a fulfilling single life and loving it, and clueless about where to start on your journey to letting go of the person who haunts you and has consistently failed to give your rare and beautiful heart what it needs.â⬠Lupe regretted two things; not telling Flavio she was in love with him and to ask for forgiveness. Lupe didnââ¬â¢t know what was going to happen next, what she did know was that this would be the last feeling he took from her. It took weeks before Lupe could pick herself back up, she would avoid going to work, painting, and being out in public. Lupe grabbed everything of Flavio and burned them ââ¬Å" I didnââ¬â¢t expect paper to take so long to burn, but it was a lot of layersâ⬠(Cisneros 160-161). Later during that time Lupe sat herself in front of a t.v watching a telenovela show where she was then inspired. She would think of the words from Daniela Romo singing ââ¬Å" Ya no. Es verdad que te adoro, pero mas me adoro yoâ⬠(I love you, honey, but I love me more)(Cisneros 163). Lupe was done feeling sorry for herself, she picked herself up and remembered who she was. She took a hold of her life, ââ¬Å" The First Stepâ⬠by Najwa Zebian states ââ¬Å"In order to achieve greatness, you have to be willing to take the right steps towards itâ⬠(113). And that is exactly what Lupe chose to do, she chose to take her life back. ââ¬Å"Everywhere I go, Itââ¬â¢s me and me. Half of me liv ing my life, the other half watching me live itâ⬠( Cisneros 163). Instead of hurting Flavio any way that she could have Lupe guided herself through the pain and turned it into something greater. We all want to know what it is that makes us feel as much pain when getting hurt. ââ¬Å" Sexologyâ⬠by Samuel Aun Weor writes ââ¬Å" When human beings are truly in love, they become intuitive, mystical. In such moments they forebode their future, afraid of what might happen to themâ⬠(4). Lupe was in love with a man that she didnââ¬â¢t at first even see herself with or even would have noticed him. Even with all the stories they shared with each other, there could have been moments he could have told her the truth. Was it fear of losing her? Or was it that he took advantage of her? We arenââ¬â¢t sure why people donââ¬â¢t always speak up and just really say how they feel. We end up being the ones who are clueless. Lupe could have given up and let Flavio ruin her life, but she chose to become a strong woman and choose her. Love is costful, sometimes that is taking all of someoneââ¬â¢s love or worse, someone can go beyond just being depressed but hurting themselve s or another. Love is complicated. Love is beyond us. But it does not take away who we are. Cisneros, Sandra. Woman Hollering Creek and other stories. Homeland Security Exercise Program Research Paper
Homeland Security Exercise Program - Research Paper Example They provide infrastructure security and analysis of the information. This consists of identifying and assessing both current and future threats to our homeland, 4. Homeland Security also focuses on prevention of terrorists, detection, and being prepared to respond, protect, and recover from any activity. This work is not only at a Federal level but also at the State and Local levels of government. While Homeland Security is most often thought of as a government responsibility it is also the responsibility of the private sector to work with Federal, State, and local government agencies, owner/operators of business, nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, nongovernmental organizations and other infrastructure stakeholders such as trade associations. The Federal government controls the guidelines and policies that affect the planning, development, design, implementation, exercise and evaluation of an emergency readiness program, However, its up to each state to assess its own n eeds and develop an exercise and evaluation program. ... o gives financial and direct support designed to assist the state and local governments with design and implementation of a state level program to evaluate and enhance its domestic preparedness. Exercises are used for training, practice prevention, dealing with vulnerability reduction, response time, and the recovery capabilities in a risk free setting. They are also used to evaluate and improve performance. Exercises are also a way to show community awareness in preparing for disastrous events. The State Homeland Security Strategy development process begins with the evaluation phase. This is when the states and local governments implement their own vulnerability, risk and needs evaluations. The knowledge that they gain during this evaluation period allows the development of plans and procedures. The plans and procedures are developed further into planning for equipment, training and exercise requirements. The results of this analysis are used to form the State Homeland Security Stra tegy. Strategy requires that the states conduct a vulnerability, risk and needs assessment. These assessments are formed at the state and local levels using what strategy the states adopt. There are also guidelines that they must follow in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), in development of State Homeland Security Strategies in responding to, for example, a terrorism incident. The evaluation is prepared by the Stateââ¬â¢s planning team. The evaluation stipulates the goals for emphasizing prevention, response and recovery capabilities. It also gives specific objectives and steps for carrying out the planning, training, equipment and resources necessary to reach the goals. These guidelines also include an agricultural

Compare and contrast two slave narratives from two different states Research Paper
Compare and contrast two slave narratives from two different states - Research Paper Example This was cognizant to the fact that the slaveââ¬â¢s slavery was largely examined in economic terms. Virginia is one of the States that was found in the southern part of America. Largely, the Southern States were more preoccupied with the cotton production than the Northern part. In the first half of the 1600s, Africans had already started occupying Virginia.2 This was, whether they were enslaved or not. At the same time, Europeans were also thronging Virginia because of its vast land that would help in Agricultural production. The demand of cotton in Europe increasingly became high and the needs for extra production became a necessity. The labor that was offered by the Native Americans became unsustainable. This was mostly because European diseases affected the native America and most of them died. Landlords were therefore left with no option but to turn the African as slaves. The enslaved individuals in Virginia plantations were made to drain swamps, burned stubble, raked fields and broke grounds as a preparation for the plantation. They were also forced to drain, hoe, flood, dry and weed the fields in many occasions before the crops could be ready for harvesting. Introduction of new crops made individuals land owners richer and richer. This also affected their acquisition of slave. They owned more and more slaves and further expanded their farming from rice to cotton and even to the growing of tobacco. The planters became cruel and tyrannical to the slaves and in most cases they forced their will on the slaves to do things they wanted done. In Virginia, particular in the farms of the rich planters, Slaves were toiled in groups of 20 to 25 and a supervision of one person as an overseer. At the peak of the seasons of harvest, work for slaves increased and they could even be forced to work for more than 15 hours in a day. The overseers could whip the slaves whenever they felt like they were not doing what
